Spokane Low Income Housing Consortium

We promote and provide Affordable housing

The federal government considers housing to be affordable when its cost is 30 percent of the occupying household’s monthly income. The Spokane Low Income Housing Consortium cares about affordable housing because
  • Housing is shelter, a basic human need.
  • Housing gives individuals and families stability.
  • Housing gives us neighbors.
  • Housing is a foundation of community.
  • Housing gives us a place to raise our families.
  • Housing gives our employees a place to go at night.
Our photos show that affordable housing has quality! Affordable housing simply provides safe places to live at lower rents.

Who uses affordable housing? Senior citizens with fixed incomes, persons with disabilities and other special needs, and families with limited incomes. You may be surprised at who needs affordable housing: the person who repairs your shoes, a friend’s grandmother, or the clerk in a retail store.
